EVJudge Privacy Policy
EVJudge (evjudge.com and the EVJudge mobile apps) is a gas-vs-EV cost calculator built by an independent developer. The short version: there are no accounts, your calculator data never leaves your device, and we don't sell data — we have almost none to sell. The details follow.
What we don't collect
- No accounts, sign-ups, names, or email addresses.
- No advertising, ad identifiers, or ad networks.
- Your calculator inputs (your car, mileage, prices, edited numbers) and results are stored only locally in your browser's storage or on your device. They are never transmitted to us or anyone else.
Location (state detection)
The app can optionally use your device's location once, at low accuracy, purely to pre-select your U.S. state (for electricity and gas prices, EV fees, and climate weighting). The lookup happens entirely on your device: coordinates are matched against a bundled state map and are never transmitted, stored, or logged. You can decline the permission and pick your state manually — nothing else changes.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4, only with your consent)
The website may use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage — how many people visit, which pages they view, roughly which country they come from. What that means in practice:
- Analytics runs only if you press "Allow analytics" in the consent banner. If you decline (or never answer), the Google script is not even loaded. Your choice is stored in your browser's localStorage and you can change it by clearing site data.
- If enabled, Google Analytics sets cookies/identifiers to tell returning visitors from new ones. GA4 does not log or store IP addresses; coarse location is derived and then the IP is discarded.
- We see only aggregate reports (visit counts, pages, device types, country). We see nothing you type into the calculator.
- Google processes this data as our processor; see Google's privacy policy. You can also block GA everywhere with the GA opt-out browser add-on.
Outbound links
If your comparison favors a Tesla, the app shows the developer's personal Tesla referral link (clearly disclosed next to the link). If you follow it, you are on Tesla's site under Tesla's privacy policy; we receive nothing about your visit there. The same applies to any source links (government data, etc.) opened from the app.
We don't sell data
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share personal information with third parties for their own purposes. The only third party involved at all is Google Analytics, as described above, and only with your consent.
Your rights (GDPR, CCPA and friends)
Because everything meaningful lives on your device, you are already in control of it:
- Deletion: clear your browser's site data for evjudge.com (or uninstall the app) — that removes every calculator input, your consent choice, and any analytics cookies. There is no server-side copy to delete.
- Access/portability: all your data is the numbers visible on your screen; nothing else exists.
- Opt-out of analytics: press "No thanks" on the banner, clear site data to be re-asked, or use the GA opt-out add-on linked above.
- If you believe we hold any personal data about you (we shouldn't), email us and we will identify, correct, or delete it, and you may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Children
EVJudge is a car-cost tool, not directed at children under 13, and collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated effective date. Material changes (e.g. adding any new data collection) will be called out prominently on this page.
