It counts what the sales calculators hide
- Depreciation on both cars — the largest cost of EV ownership, missing from the manufacturers' own estimators (non-Tesla EVs often depreciate even faster)

The $7,500 federal EV tax credit ended for purchases after September 30, 2025. Most calculators online still include it. EVJudge's data carries "as of" dates and gets refreshed with each release.

Is this affiliated with Tesla or any carmaker?
No. EVJudge is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc. or any other vehicle manufacturer. It compares your car with a Tesla or other EVs on the same math.
How does the math work?
Purchase or finance cost, minus each car's projected resale value at year 5, plus energy (gas vs home/Supercharger electricity, winter-weighted), insurance, maintenance, tires, fees, and charging equipment. Every line item is tappable in the app: see the source, the "as of" date, and change the number if your situation differs.
Does it cost anything? What's the catch?
It's free with no ads and no account. If you compare against a Tesla, the app shows the developer's personal referral link — clearly disclosed, whatever the verdict — because ordering through any referral link gives you Tesla's current referral benefit, which may include 3 months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for eligible new owners. When the math favors the gas car, the app says so plainly and the link is just there if you choose the EV anyway. Verify the current offer on Tesla before ordering. Using the link is optional and unlocks nothing in the app. Comparisons against other brands never show a referral link — just a reminder to check current manufacturer and state incentives.
What's the "priorities scorecard"? Is it still honest math?
Yes. The scorecard weights the same sourced data the dollar verdict already uses — NHTSA and IIHS ratings, verified standard driver-assistance equipment, battery warranty runway at your mileage, your actual home-charging setup and your longest trip — by what you say matters, on a 0-10 scale. Cost counts double and dominates the defaults: EVJudge is a cost calculator first. The dollar verdict never changes; the scorecard sits next to it, and when the two disagree the app says exactly that — one car is cheaper, the other fits your stated priorities. Criteria without verified data on both sides are dropped and labeled "not scored", never guessed. Some criteria are deliberately rejected: brand appeal and fun-to-drive can't be scored from sourced data, and an environmental/CO2 score is out of v1 because doing it honestly needs your state's actual grid mix (EPA eGRID), not a national average.
